Rococo...
Something I never really knew about before.
I found this rather unusual
sterling silver button this past summer while on one of my buying
adventures... Turns out that it was a Rococo style sterling silver
button from the early 1700's..
I've since learned that Rococo
(also known as Late Baroque) was extremely popular in the early 18th
century because of it's unusual symmetry, and
playfulness. And while it is somewhat considered a French design.
there was substantial influence by the Portuguese for the true decorative
aspects of the design...
So, I've created this hand-cast sterling silver
"open" antique button pendant that will be available on a limited basis.
The Rococo pendant playfully drops from one of my sterling silver dots
necklaces and is well, just very florid and extrvagant...
Necklace measures 17 1/2". Solid sterling silver pendant measures 1
3/4" in diameter. Note that because the pendant is solid silver
it is not a lightweight!
